In one of Southampton’s largest retail lettings in recent years, Trinity Rose Commercial has announced it has let over 23,000 square feet of prime retail space to HMV as it makes a triumphant return to the city as HMV Vault.
HMV was a well-known retailer in Southampton for many years until it left its Above Bar store in 2018. In 2021, in time for the Christmas trade, it will move into the former Argos premises at 173-178 High Street following an extensive fit out of the vast unit’s ground floor and basement.
Trinity Rose work closely with the building’s landlords, MHA Southampton who’s building also houses tenants including Tesco, The Gym and Solent University. All parties are delighted with the result, as Jeremy Baybrooke, Trinity Rose Director, revealed.
‘This is another store for the company’s largest brand, HMV Vault,’ commented Jeremy. HMV Vault aims to provide a dedicated entertainment store covering every element of its offering under one roof. This is a multi-million-pound investment in the city centre and is a significant success for Southampton. We’re sure this will be an asset that will please the city’s shoppers as they welcome a familiar retail face back to the high street.’
